Can you remember a time when you had to learn something that was frustrating but you HAD to learn it? Do you remember the experience of giddiness and accomplishment you experienced when you did learn it?
I remember being 18 years old performing my first lesser banishing ritual of the pentagram. I was so confuzzled. Not only did I have to trace like, a million pentagrams, but I also had to memorize the words of power that turn the ritual on. I was frustrated, to put it very mildly. I pressed forward however, because there was a part of me that knew that I HAD to learn this; that when you learn this, your life will be better than 99% of the people on the planet.
So I took the ritual in small doses, memorizing the most difficult aspects of it ( for me, anyway) and I practiced that aspect until I got tired of practicing it. I would trace the pentagrams at random times during the day. I got to the point where I can do the complete LBRP in my sleep, and have done so many times over the last few decades. And then I had to learn the Banishing ritual of the Hexagram :(
With the IGOS Apprentice handbook, I've noticed that the depth of all my rituals has greatly increased. I'm seeing things as the old masters saw them and getting new insight into these timeless rituals.
So what's the point behind this story? It's this: Building the life of your dreams requires smart, consistent work AND a lil' bit of magic. It may seem impossible to achieve your dreams, but when it does, take a step back and break the "assignment" down into little chunks. Elephants are eaten in small chunks, my friend.
